Stupid people listen to shitty music
I've come to a conclusion. After years of pondering, wondering, thinking,
contemplating and all those other synonyms, I've decided that unintelligent people listen to crappy music, and people who have a slight higher intellect listen to substanially better music.
First off, I define "crappy music" as follows: Techno, trance, house, and emo. All subgenres included. No exceptions.
"Substantially better music" I define as: Metal, rock, non-mainstream rap, some punk(rock), blues, classical, and other miscellaneous genres.
You might me asking yourself how I can say this. Well...I've come to this conclusion from the fact that the crappy music (as of my definition - and from this point on referred to as "crap") almost never tries to convey any stories, nor messages, and no emotions.It's just soul-less, cold, unemotional music.
Substanially better music usually do the things crap doesn't, or fails at doing.
As I said - usually smarter people listen to better music, because it tells them something. When a song tells a story or brings across emotions, and you listen to it, it makes you think. When you listen to crap, your brain remains inactive.
Actually, I don't even have to argue more on this topic. I can sum it up with this sentence: Why do you think highly educated scientists recommends Mozart or Beethoven for listening when you study, and not someone like DJ Tiesto?
Ever been discussing music with someone, and you defend your viewpoint with this proclamation "I love [Insert band], they have such good lyrics!", only to get this in return "I don't listen to lyrics" ? I hate it when I get to hear that shit. You know that this person isn't the smartest you know, and most likely far from it. Sure you can listen to crap, just to hear the instrumentals, and enjoy it, but it's not exactly thought-provoking.
And then on the other side, when you think about it, those you know who listen to music that goes under my definition of "substantially better music", are most likely intelligent people who DO listen to the lyrics, and try to pick up the message.
By the way, before I forget this: All of this goes for movies as well. If you don't listen to the lyrics, and you think that Alice Deejay makes emotional music, then you probably think Ben Affleck is a good actor and you really enjoyed Pearl Harbor.
Judging from my own taste in music, I am pretty fucking outstanding. My IQ has to be at least 480. That's what my playlist tells me at least, because it's pretty goddamn awesome.
So...At this point, you have two choices. You can choose either A or B.
A: You can let this text offend you, and feel as if I've somehow insulted you, but you just don't know what to do, so you'll write in my guestbook telling me how much I suck and that rock and metal is shitty and you hate it.
B: Think to yourself "Wow, this dude is pretty intolerant and will probably die alone" and then ignore me and what I write for the rest of your days, and go and put on some music.
If you listen to crap, I bet you'll choose A.
